Help With AC 300 setup

Hi All,

 

This is my first post but I've been lurking for awhile. Also a newbie to nanos but had a 55g reef for 3 yrs several yrs ago.

 

I want to set up my 10g with an AC 300 with LR rubble in the filter compartment. Here are my Questions.

 

I want to put the heater in the filter to keep it out of the tank. The only one I have found that looks like it will fit is the 50w Tronic. What is everyone else using?

 

The plastic baffle everyone is gooping into the filter... Is this to create a small section to keep the heater in so the LR rubble is not up against the heater?

 

Where do you get this goop?

 

Also I want to run the AC surface skimmer (I hated that scum on the top of my 55g water) and was wondering if everyone is using the foam blocks (or something else) that came with the AC 300 to trap the scum or is it just recirculating back into the tank?
