gabbeyshell Posted March 24, 2004 Share Posted March 24, 2004 what type of h20 are you using? what type of salt mix are you using? have this same prob-started to get hair algae, ro/di water was 0, io salt mix before entering tank is .2. might want to check into that. Link to comment
Tempest Posted March 25, 2004 Share Posted March 25, 2004 Assuming your cycle is was complete the phosphate could come from: 1. Overfeeding 2. Carbon needs to be changed 3 Poor water quality (tap water) Do a 20% water with RO water and cut back on feeding... don't starve the tank, but use a little less food at each feeding (assuming you are adding food or phyto). Change the carbon if it's more than a month old. You may also want to use a higher grade of carbon such Black Diamond or Chemi-pure. Consider using phosban to remove the phosphate. A refugium or adding macroalgae to the tank will also help with this problem. Link to comment
