jesman002 Posted March 24, 2004 Share Posted March 24, 2004 I recently started a 20 gallon reef tank and its been running for about 2 weeks now i have 20 lbs of live rock and about 10 pounds of live sand on top of some crushed coral.All the sudden iv gotton a bunch of brown algae growing all over my rock and sand is this normal after only 2 weeks and what should i do if its not? Physh1 Posted March 24, 2004 Share Posted March 24, 2004 Being that your likely mid-cycle with amm and trites alage is normal. Are you running your lights? If so, the high nutirent/waste level in the tank due to cycling would promote algae. Any specs on the tank? Lighting? Circulation? Water Tests? Cameron Link to comment
jesman002 Posted March 25, 2004 Author Share Posted March 25, 2004 2X65 pc are the lights 10 hours a day i did use tap water but have started using distilled for top off i have a skilter 250 and 2 rio 301 power heads also should i be running carbon through the skilter? Link to comment
