mkhan Posted March 23, 2004 Share Posted March 23, 2004 hey i have a 94 gallon tank and right now i have power compact lighting but i really want some nice and colorful corals but my local lfs is telling me a whole bunch of bull saying dont do it b/c it requires a lot taking care of, and he also said i would need metal hallides........so exactly how good are my compacts and wats da difference between metal hallides and the compacts?? Reefer_Buddha Posted March 23, 2004 Share Posted March 23, 2004 thats like asking whats the difference between a pinto and a lamborghini. Halides are the best source of light for a tank. For a 94g i hope you have a small inheritance coming to you cuz youre lookin at 400-500w of halide at least and thats a nice chunk of change. PCs are entry level and good starter bulbs only because they a tiny bit higher than NO bulbs. Go with halide if you can. Link to comment
