zdank Posted March 22, 2004 Share Posted March 22, 2004 Hello... I have a large black sea urchin in my tank and a large clam in my tank. Both arrived with the live rock I purchased 3 months ago. Here's the details... Urchin started at the size of a small pea and is now about 2inches in diameter. It appears that he is losing spines and another urchin has appeared and is growing fast (as his ma/pa did). I'm looking to ID this urchin and find out if it will be good or bad to have these in the long term. Also, what to do if he is dying? Remove or just let my hermits eat his remains? It appears to be a slow death if it's death that's coming. Info on the clam in the next post. Link to comment

Arden Posted March 24, 2004 Share Posted March 24, 2004 When urchins loose spines it tis often a sign of a water quality problem. It would be best to remove if it dies or it will pollute the water. Link to comment
