pyrrhus Posted March 22, 2004 Share Posted March 22, 2004 If by white spot you mean ICH the only safe way is to remove ALL fish from your reef system and use a copper solution on the fish (NOT in the reef) and wait for about 2 weeks before reintroducing the fish back into the reef tank. you can wait longer as some people advocate but it is not necessary, any crypto will hatch and starve in that time without vertebrates one can also use freshwater dips on the fish if another tank where copper can be used. best long term solution is UV sterilizer and quarantining all fish for 2-4 weeks before adding them to the reef. Remember though that copper is toxic to all Invertebrate life. one can try some of the "reef safe" Ich treatments available but it is not recommended Link to comment
