Akiowalt
Today my housemate pass me a old tank with 7" x 7" x 7", 1.5 US gallons. I'm just wonder is that possibility to turn it into pico reef? PC light and moonlight is probably not enough for me to set up. I might think of PAR38. Here's the picture: Link to comment

brandon429
thats a good call. we haven't had a pure mushroom tank in a long time, and splashed with colors its the single hardiest coral for the most color you can buy. a mixed mushroom tank would be very bright and simple to maintain. if you change out most or all of the water every week, like clockwork, and rarely if ever miss a beat, the reef will live the longest. If you change partial amounts of water it will develop problematic algae by november. if you ever see algae in the tank at any time, at any stage of cycling, remove it by doing a large water change and wiping it out accordingly. by always removing all algae growth any time you see it, vs waiting for it to subside, and by changing out the water each week you can nearly force a 1.5 gallon tank to run.
