dj synystr
i am updaqting my lighting on my reef tank and was thinking about using the 175 watt metal halide light for my 10 gallon nano. i was thinking about this or maybe going with a 75 watt metal halide for the nano. is 175 watts too much light for a 10 gallon tank? should i go with the 70 watt instead. please any help on this would help me greatly. thanks in avdance. theclearblue
any idea on how you plan to mount it over the tank? 175w should be fine though. Link to comment
theDude
I have a 175W MH over my 10 and think it looks great. I recently added an 11W actinic. Everything fits in to a 9 inch tall hood. I have one 4.5" computer fan that comes on with the lights to keep everything cool. You can see a recent full-tank shot here: http://reef.electricflyers.org/10gallon/im...s/031304001.jpg . masterfuji01
i have one over my 10 gallon....i got the 20000K so that i didnt need the actinic. i have suspended about 10 in from teh surface of the water.... no need for a heater anymore...it kept my tank at 76 all through the winter. now i have a fan pointing at the water surface and have a power heard heavily breking the surface tension....you will love the light.....everything grows so much better.
