Redsixer
I came home yesterday and found my orange sea star had lost one of his legs, and had this fuzzy looking stuff coming out of the center of him. He also looked a little thinner than normal. He was still moving around some. The tank is a 10 gal. and the stats are fine: S.G.=1.024 temp=80 ammo=0 nitrite=0 nitrate<10 pH=8.2 cal=400. The tank has been running for 3 1/2 months. I have had the orange star for 2 weeks now and thought he was fine. I did a 1 gal. water change. Also in the tank is 1 false perc, 1 fire red shrimp, 2 sexy shrimp, 3 hermits, 10 nass snails, 1 GSP. They all appear to be doing fine. I know stars sometimes lose their legs but is this normal or is he dying? Link to comment
nano-nemo
did you expose it to air when you transfered it to the tank or possibly during the water change? that would cause necrosis of an arm in your star. Link to comment
Redsixer
No he wasn't exposed to air, he is still alive because he has moved. But he does not look good. Link to comment
