Redox & Algae Dominance ?

So I was surfing to kill time & came across an interesting hypothesis. That the redox of the system wil determine the dominant algae through out the system. Now I have no clue as to whether this is true or not yet. But, it did get me thinking to what things could make a tank more likely to favor one vs another. Anyway I'm going to see what else I can find on the topic, but thought it might be worth talking about.

I think it depends on what the algae specifically consumes. Also, I am sure there are specific concentrations of nutrients that certain species will show the most growth with.

I don't buy that theory at all, but would be interested to see why somebody believes that to be the case. If they are playing around with ozone, there are a billion other things that are potentially changing besides the ORP.
