I am on a tight budget and I am looking for the cheapest RO system there is that works. The cheapest I have found is a 24 gpd RO system for $98. Let me know if you know of any that are cheaper!

Anything cheaper than $100 :)?

You'll be hard pressed. Especially after you factor in shipping costs.

Then, even if you find a cheap system it's usually a pay me now or pay me later system. The less you spend up front the more you'll spend in the long run replacing filters/resin and upgrading, etc.

AWI is having special of free shipping over $100 and then theres club codes floating around for %10 off. You can combine them. I just purchased a typhoon from them for $135 to my door. A great system, with a ton of extras (even though it wasnt the higher end model) and vertical DI chamber with standard filter replacement options. Which will save me $ in the long run.

Other than that, after you factor in shipping... Your alternatives are ebay systems, and purewaterclub (also free shipping)

You should shell out the 150 and get the 75gpd BRS RO/DI unit or similar. You will thank yourself later. Not to mention the unit you noted is only 24gpd. That is not much water at all. You would be better off with a larger unit that can make more water for only 50.00 more.

You get what you pay for with RO/DI so don't look at price alone, pay particular attention to what you are getting for your money.

I guarantee you you will not find a lower cost system than this one and certainly not one that will work as well.

For your $120 you get a treated and tested 90 GPD high rejection rate RO membrane, a 0.5 micron absolute rated prefilter, a 0.5 micron 20,000 gallon carbon block, a full size refillable DI canister and cartridgefilled with custom blended mixed bed resin, a capillary tube flow restrictor and an inline pressure gauge. Add a TDS meter for another $25 and you have a real reef quality system for less than $150 that will last and make true 0 TDS water

DesertRat: I'm really leaning towards this unit (75GPD version) http://www.buckeyefieldsupply.com/showprod...168&Sub=166. What are your thoughts on this unit? Good value? Good unit with good filters and accessories? Thanks for your knowledge.

I bought a 0PPM Portable 150 GPD Reverse Osmosis RO+DI Filtration System for $76 free shipping.

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't you need to use a considerable amount more per a week of water in a 150gpd unit v. 75-90gpd unit to keep it from going bad faster?

The Buckeye Premium systems are great systems, on of my recommended choices.

You get what you pay for with RO/DI and the Pure water club units are very low end Chinese imports probably worth less than you pay for them. Look at things like no name membranes, Granular activated carbon filters, 5 micron prefilters etc. No self respecting reef quality vendor would do that to you. Read their web page and look at all the places they contradict themselves with false statements and bogus claims, poorly worded sentences etc.
