nano-nemo
how many pounds should i add? how many lbs are considered good im thinking 7.5 is a good number Link to comment
Reefmaniac
General rule of thumb is 2 lbs of LR per gallon, 1 LB of live sand per gallon. Link to comment
nano-nemo
even in a 10 gallon? twenty lbs would nearly take up the entire tank Link to comment
Tempest
I have a 10 gallon tank. I used 20lbs of live sand and about 12 lbs of live rock. Worked out great. Just don't overfeed and do weekly 1-2 gallon water changes. Link to comment

KrackerG
I have about 17 lbs of new LR in my 10g. I think anywhere between 10-20 should be fine. BTW, I too have an addiction to LR (LOL Rachel!) gotta' stay away from my LFS:P the 20lbs in my sump is what USED to be in my tank Link to comment
Aiptasia
It depends on how dense the LR is, and this can usually be determined by the country of origin. Link to comment
Reefmaniac
Good point...Florida is dense, so the chunks don't take up the same space for the weight. Fiji, etc is light, so you need more of it for the same weight. Again, 2 lbs per gallon is a good target to shoot for. Link to comment
jmt
1.5#'s per gallon is a good rule (15lbs. in a 10ga). =Justin Link to comment
