Chamkeeper
I have an empty 10 Gallon tank and stand. It has a standard fluoro hood on it. Can I get a small power filter, heater, live sand and rock, and start a FOWLR using just a single tube fluoro light? My plan would be to get the tank cycled and add fish and the cleanup crew then upgrade to PCs and think about other occupants. Will this plan work? Can I keep live rock and live sand alive without fancy lighting? Thanks Link to comment
Korbin
I dont see why not. Actually, you just made me want to do the same thing. Hmm, got me thinking... Link to comment
Sahin
Yup, I agree it should be fine for a fish only tank. Link to comment
moultonrock
Great plan dude!!! I might have to start tommorrow! wow, guess it was way to obvious Link to comment
Mnesarchus
Yes, I think that would work. It will probably take a lot longer to get corraline growth, though. Good idea. Link to comment
mxpro32
thats how i started my five gallon. i had the stock incandescent light at first then i just put one of those regular spiral compact flourescents in the cheap hood. then i made a new hood and put a smartlight in it, and now i upgraded to a minibow 7 and i have 2 32w smartlites. good luck! Christopher Marks
That will work just fine...I guess my nano reef was a FOWLR for a few months when I first set it up and was saving my money for a lighting system Link to comment
