blackwater Posted March 4, 2004 Share Posted March 4, 2004 I have a 24" Atman fluorescent light fixture with 1x 20W white light and 1x 18W actinic tubes. That's a grand total of 38W. I need more. Is it possible to use higher wattage tubes, or will it damage/burn something? Thanks. Link to comment
jojopus Posted March 4, 2004 Share Posted March 4, 2004 refer to my answer in your previous post..... but if i must re-iterate..... the answer is no...the ballasts in those fixtures are rated to run bulbs of a certain wattage trying to run the wrong wattage bulbs can cause decreased performace or a fire. But hey, knock yourself out trying it anyways...........its your house...... Link to comment

The reason I posted again was that I wasn't sure if anyone would look in the previous post to answer this question and it can't hurt to get a couple of opinions. You can relax - i'm not going to mess with it. I'll head out and spend up on some decent lighting and do it properly. My house is safe for now. Link to comment
