TRIPLE 400 W MH REEF Light with 72" Reflector 400 Watt Metal Halide Advance Electromagnetic Ballast manufactured by Advance Transformer 458 input watts For 400Watt Metal Halide lamp Circuit type:CWA 120/347 Volt input All Aluminum construction made with T6061 Aluminum. Socket bracket constructed with solid (.50) aluminum Premium porcelain construction, Mogal Base 4KV, 600 volt, 1500 Watt Pulse I will have a friend make the proper hood. He recommened two 10k and one 20k in the middle. The total is 430. delivered (no bulbs). But it sounds good to me. What do you all think? This will take me to around 18 watts per gallon. Korbin Posted March 1, 2004 Share Posted March 1, 2004 What lights you get depend on what you want to keep. With those lights, I assume you want SPS and clams? Watts per gallon stuff is a bunch of bunk, IMO. Every case is different. In your case, for a 65 gallon, I'd say you're going a little overboard. In a 65 gallon you should be able to keep just about anything with 2x250 watts easy. Probably even a single 250 watt. Hope you spec'ed some fans to go along with those lights. You're thinking of enclosing them in a hood? Its going to get HOT Link to comment
