how do i figure out haw many gallons a tank is

for a rectangle you just do L x W x H (in inches) for your total volume of cubic inches. divide the total by 231 (as there are 231 cubic inches per gallon) and you get your tank measurement in gallons. i.e. a tank measuring 24 x 16 x 12.5 = 4800 cubic inches. divide this by 231 and you see that you have a 20 gallon tank (technically 20.78 gallons, but you get the picture)

FILL IT WITH WATER THEN DUMP IT OUT INTO 1 GALLON EMPTY 40 oz MALT LIQUOR JUGGS... COUNT HOW MANY ARE FULL ON THE FLOOR... THEN KICK THEM DOWN THE STAIRS AT 3 AM ! Just another method....... Thought Id share...
