UNCCwill
How many GPH are needed for a ten gallon FOWLR? I was thinking about a power head I saw at marinedepot.com that had 106 GPH. Would this be way too much? Link to comment
surfy
That should be fine, you actually may need more flow than 100gph. I run a rio 90 plus a 300gph HOB filter on a 7g. The more flow the better IMO. When you have more flow it helps keep all the crud suspended so the filter/skimmer will pick it up instead of geting traped on the sand/rocks and behind rocks which causes bad water quality and algae. IMO it's better to have two smaller powerheads instead of one large one, that way the flow is distributed through out the tank better compared to one giant direct stream. Link to comment
Gerard the fish
If you are running a HOB filter than a 106gph PH should be fine but all tanks are different you may need to add more in the future to eliminate dead areas in your tank... Link to comment
brett3735
hey will, i had the same question. I will probably get 2 smaller PH instead of a big 300 gph one. Link to comment
