ednangel
I'll answer my own post... California academy of the sciences in San Francisco. I was there over the summer and it was a beautiful building with beautiful displays. +1 Last time I went I talked to the narrator on the Philippines Reef, he told me they started to slowly add corals to their 23 feet tall display which is viewable from the top with different types of anemones, and giant clams. Viewable from the sides are garden eels and full frontal the new reef wall (old rockwork with all the corals they started adding). Hundreds of fish living together and choosing by themselves which part of the reef to colonize I go very often, I don't have to pay, and it's amazing how the clowns are always on the same spots the never venture out of their area. Also the Monterey Bay Aquarium if you’re more into temperate aquariums, amazing nonetheless. Long Beach aquarium has a small one but its worth it just because they have like a 3,000 gallon one will all real LR and full grown coral which is very unusual for a public aquarium. They also have a pair of harlequin filefish living in there. Don’t waste your money in the one around Charleston, SC Link to comment
brandolando4
The shed aquarium in chicago is awesome and world renown, denver aquarium is really cool and has a tiger in it, and the Waikiki aquarium (my personal favorite, my dream is to work there) is incredible!! Im from hawaii tho so i guess Im a little biased!! if u are in hawaii check it out!! Link to comment
tako
Monterey Bay is by far my favorite. Plus, the surrounding area has some nice scuba diving spots you can access from the shore. Link to comment

Props to him if he's actually into the hobby rather then having some company set up and care for the tank just so he can look at it. Link to comment

jeremai
i'll give you that "the best aquarium" in the middle of nowhere. hey, it's more than just a fish tank. 1.6 million gallons of predator-based goodness is nothing to snark at. it's also an accredited research facility. I'm throwing my vote in for Mystic Aquarium in CT and for Birch Aquarium at Scripps. Link to comment
Gunbeaux
I have to add New Orleans because I live there. Lost alot of stuff with Katrina but they are coming back strong. Link to comment
