This might be a stupid question...but is any type of PVC pipe safe to put in an aquarium? Or is there a special type?

i think all of it is safe... although chemicals like pipe dope and such used to bond pvc may not

It's all o.k. but as he stated you want to make sure the glue is FULLY dry before you run any water thru it.

In all my plumbing I have used regular pvc glue. Dry it will harm nothing in our reefs.

Side note......I used ABS on my 54's plumbing. The ball valves I used were ABS, in that case you need to make sure your glue will bond both types of pipe.

I never even wait for pvc cement to dry fully, Im way too impatient . . .

I use it as soon as I am done gluing all the pieces.

I use the grey kind, it is for potable water.

Never had a problem, been doing it this way for years.

Here is what I need to do: glue a piece of PVC, say 1" wide and 2" tall, to piece of acrylic, and burrie that in the sand. Can I still use the reef glue? I just need a way to keep the coral in my sandbed shrimp-safe.
