Im setting up a 20g high, and want to make the lighting myself to save alot of money. What is a good CHEAP ballast and reflector and cap and bulb I should use? I have about $200 to do it with. If anyone knows to do it for cheaper then that, give me a shout, id like to know. Link to comment

toefu Posted February 21, 2004 Share Posted February 21, 2004 or if you wanna go cheap, goto ebay, get a $40 magnetic (hot) ballast. $30 for the mogul base + reflector at hello lights, and get the XM bulb from hellolights for 60.. $130 total Link to comment

toefu Posted February 21, 2004 Share Posted February 21, 2004 I have a 250 20k over my 20 gallon and it's more than enough lighting.. if you are running 10k, I really don't see a need for 400 watts. Link to comment
