yellow tail Damsel

In a 5.5 there is only room for one fish. I have a yellow tailed damsel in mine. He has something to harass in the form of a cleaner shrimp.

In true damsel form he picks on the cleaner shrimp. Damsels are usually pretty agressive to protect their territory.

putting another fish in a 5 1/2 gallon with a damsel is like dropping the two fish into a steel cage death match.

the 20 gallon tank you would have to put the other fish in first so that the damsel doesn't claim the whole tank as it's territory. Even then you might have a problem.

A percula clown will be a good choice for your 20g. After cycling, put the clown in first then add the damsel a week or so later. I have these fish in my 20g and the clown is aggressive enough to keep the damsel in check, yet not so aggressive that they actually fight. Nice color combo too.....:)
