R33 GTR Posted January 22, 2011 Share Posted January 22, 2011 Hi i am a newbe in saltwater aquariums and i want to set up a swallow reef 24x20x12 and i wanted to know what type o lamp can i buy to grwo soft and lps and maybe just maybe in the future some sps and clams this are my 2 options 1-150watts MH 14K with 2x24watts actini lights 4 x24watts t5ho retrofit to a custom hood and the other thing i want to know is how big of a chiller i need 1/10 HP will that work or a bigger one like an diy 1/4 HP Link to comment
i3enny Posted January 22, 2011 Share Posted January 22, 2011 If you are planning on growing clams and such in the future, just go with the halide and actinic combo now. imo its worth it and with the supplemental actinic, you should have no problem growing anything. just make sure to leave plenty of room from water, halide penetrates a lot, so it doesnt have to be too close Link to comment
