sen5241b
When I turn my my Rio 6hf on, after leaving it off for 10 minutes or so, it makes this loud clunking noise that is obviously abnormal. After a minute or so the pump comes on and runs normally. But I have to play with it, turning it off and on and sometimes just letting it run while making the noise and eventually it comes on and runs normally. I've disassembled it and put it back together many times but it makes the same horrible noise when I try to turn it on. So I bought a brand new Rio 6hf and it made the same noise as soon as I put it in there! Could this be some problem with my electricity? I once hooked the the pump up to an auto power converter when the power was out and it made the same noise. I have everything for my Biocube 29 running off one non-GFCI outlet. Maybe the pumps just suck? Link to comment

Good idea but the new pump is brand new and it is making that noise! The funny thing is that the pump did not always make that noise. Link to comment
