My 1 Year Old Via Aqua

Just thought I'd share some updated pics of my tank.

It's hard to believe that it's been a year already!

In the past year, this tank has seen power outages, heat waves, hair algea and most recently flatworms and I definitley know that I wouldn't have made it without the gang here and @ RC.

Just curious but exactly how fast do flatworms multiply ?

You sure got a ton of them...I'd be so freaked out. I found 2 white ones (not red planaria thank god) and turkey basted them off the glass. So far no more...but your pic has me paranoid.

supernip - I still have the guts of the Via Aqua hood but mine had a defective ballast so en route to getting my current light fixture I gutted the original hood and tried to retrofit it with stronger PC's.

greatwit - The flatworms that I was dealing with were the red ones. I'm using a 10K bulb.

nanocat - the flatworms in my tank had mulitplied over the course of a couple of months. I tried to siphon them out during water changes and wipe them away with my cleaning magnet but nothing worked. Unfortunately I saw a few more this morning... looks like I'll be doing another round of FWE before they get too bad again

mememe - I don't have any shots of the light in use but I do have this pic that shows what the light was like before I "modified it"... basically I bought the wrong pendant and decided to cut it down to size and re-position the electronics inside (the markers show how much metal was removed from either side - about 2.5" each way). IMHO, the hack job looks very good - most people couldn't tell that I cut it unless I told them.

Thanks for the reply littlec,

I'm getting my 28/g Via Aqua today and don't know if I should do PC or a single MH. The tank is 24" in lenght so the 24" 2X65/W PC would fit perfectly. I'm still looking at the MH options...very confused.
