How deep should the sand bed be in a 5.5 gallon nano

I am finaly ready to start setting up my first nano reef. I am going to pick up the tank tonight. I was wondering how much sand I would need. Right know I have 1 5 lbs. bag, is that enough or should I add more. I don't want to deep of a sand bed I was thinking about 1" to 2".

Anywhere from no sand to 4" deep, depends on if you want to use the bottom sand layer for NNR or not (natural nitrate reduction). If so, set it up with about 3" of aragonite reef sand, such as caribsea seafloor special grade. One 15 lb. bag should do you fine. Anywhere from 3"-5" should be safe.
