reefjunky Posted February 16, 2004 Share Posted February 16, 2004 you dont absolutely have to have one but it helps with water quality(breaks down nitrates) and keeps the water more stable its also a place to grow macroalgae and pods that can also be a food source for other life in the main tank.it is recommended Link to comment
