NanoReefer53
Great start ! Your water level looks kinda low in the last picture. Might want to get an auto top-off of else your salinity will flux too much. Link to comment
Goofnut
If you're going FOWLR, then you might be going a bit intense with the lighting (Unless you just prefer the look of metal halide). Even so, you could cut down the wattage and should be just fine :-) The MH bulb at Home Depot probably isn't in the right spectrum for corals (I think someone here said they were around 4,000K) so it would be most effective as a decorative light. Still, you might want to think about dropping the wattage down, as the added heat/evaporation might not be worth it Link to comment
xalex1
Thanks Goofnut , somebody told me the same thing as you did, that the MH ligth form home depot wont have the correct spectrum needed. I was thinking to go with Flourocent strips: 1 x 18" Actinic blue , 15w 1 x 18" Daylight 10.000k or 20.000k 1 x 13w pc 50 /50 or 2 x 50/50 18" 15w flouroucent strips 1 x 13w pc 50 /50 Link to comment
