InTank Media Basket for BC14 or just Egg Crate Media Basket?

I have heard rave reviews for both The InTank Media basket, and Just homemade Egg Crate Media Baskets. I have heard the Egg crate ones can offer more flow? any opinions?

I don't think one will OFFER more flow particularly. That's going to be dependent on the pump. The plain egg crate might ALLOW more flow if you upgrade the pump but only because some of the water will be bypassing the media.

 

The InTank basket would be the first upgrade I'd do to a BC14. What's great about it is that all of the water flows through it. I'm not even a huge fan of media but it's so easy to change out the floss in the top compartment, I find myself doing it much more often.

Egg crate media baskets are not closed in so they do not force water through the media. They are a DIY option but a high quality basket offers much better filtration.
