jamesj525
This is silly - I know. But the box has no info. Any idea how much salt/gallon one needs to add to get close to a specific gravity of 1.022 to 1.025? A cup? I'm using Tropic Marin. Thanks! Link to comment
koolyce
use a hydrometer to be sure. Link to comment
jamesj525
Of course - I thought they'd give you some kind of starting point on the box. You know, add approximately X amount per gallon, dissolve it, get the temp of the water right, then test it and fine tune it to perfect. I do know, extrapolated from the box, that I should add .124Kg/gallon - anyone know how much a cup of salt weighs???:| Link to comment

jamesj525
Thanks guys - that's the ball park I was looking for. I will double check with the hydrometer before I add it to the tank! Good Sailing! Link to comment
Chronicles
It also depends on your water quality. When the water is pure you'll need more salt to reach the 1.025, vs dirty water. I usualy find about 1/2-3/4 cup per gal, then again I mix 5 gallons at a time. Link to comment
newbiefishgirl
I use instant ocean and mix 1/2 cup of salt per gal of water. Works great!! Link to comment
trmiv
Yea, 1/2 likely. I use Bio-Sea Marine Mix, and 2.5 cups in 5 gallons gives me 1.025 every time. Link to comment
jamesj525
1/2 a cup worked perfectly - 1.025 on the dot. Thanks again! Link to comment
