sweevo
I've had my tank up and running now for approaching a month and have approx 8lbs of LR in a 7 gallon tank. I have a slight build up of algae on the LR now and some on the glass of the tank. I was going to get a couple of snails to keep the glass clean and a couple of red/scarlet hermits to help clean the LR. Will there be enough algae to sustain a couple of hermits in this environment or will I have to supplement their diet? If they need additional feeding, what foods do you recommend and how frequent should I be looking to feed? Thanks in advance. Link to comment
MrKrispy
IF/when the algae runs out they will scavenge for food. If you feed your corals there is lots that gets spread around. Same w/ a fish... Link to comment
Bio Hazard
I wonder if they would eat algae wafers? just a thought... Link to comment
MillerLite
I think hermits are scavengers by nature and will eat just about anything yuo put into the tank. If worried, drop a couple of shrimp pellets into the tank that yuo can buy at the LFS. These will sink to the bottom and the hermits will get them. They constantly look for food and will appreciate anything you drop into the tank. I also recommend adding a few larger shells as well. Eating=rapid growth and they quickly outgrow their little shells. Link to comment
