prox2332
Ok here it goes, I have a JBJ Nano cube still cyling after 10 days, I took out the filtering media in back replaced those sponges with a micron filter media and left the carbon and stock pump in it. Ok now, I put in a Red Sea Prizm Protien Skimmer with a couple of modifications it fits perfectly back there. Now my question is can they take the place of filtering ? Should I still leave the micron filter media in the leftmost compartment ? The Skimmer draws alot of gunk out the tank, more than I thought that was in there. thanks for any suggestions. Chronicles
I'm not a nano cube buff but I'll say this, you want the mechanical filtration before the skimmer if possible, after won't do much good. If you have the media basket on the skimmer you can use that too. I use both the prizm and a AQ300 to pull crap out, hate to see how the skimmer would end up w/o the mechanical of the AQ. Mnesarchus
Skimmers are a waste of time, money and they can be annoyingly noisy. 99.99% of tanks dont need a skimmer. Link to comment
seaker
go to do it yourself section and type in "jbj skimmer mod" if you want a skimmer this looks like the best way to me. Link to comment
