Mnes's 50g - long time no update

Hey guys, sorry I havent been posting much lately, I've had lots on my mind and have been keeping very busy. My 50g has been doing well and I thought I'd post a few specs and pics since it's last update a few months ago. I recently updated the lighting from 10000k to 20000k, which I really prefer, it's a far crisper color and my animals are loving it.

 

Equipment:

50g AGA

Homemade Canopy

250W 20000k Metal Halide

2 x Maxi Jet 1200

1 x Mini Jet (size?)

Ebo Jager Heater

 

Livestock:

130lbs Fiji/Samoan/Indo Live Rock

60lbs Livesand

(2) Cinnamon Clownfish

(1) Coral Beauty Angelfish

(1) Coral Banded Shrimp

(1) Green Carpet Anemone

(40ish) Asst. Snails

(30ish) Asst. Crabs

Torch Coral (Euphylia sp.)

Frogspawn Coral (Euphylia sp.)

Zoanthid Polyps (Zoanthus sp.)

Alveopora (Alveopora sp.)

Ricordea Mushrooms (Ricordea sp.)

Blue, Brown, Red Mushrooms (Actinodiscus sp.)

Candycane (Caulestrea sp.)

Green Star Polyps (Pachyclavularia sp.)

Sun Coral (Tubastraea sp.)

Derasa Clam (Tridacna sp.)

The fish are fed fresh scallops and shrimp once daily, phytoplankton is dosed 3x reccomended amount daily. All levels optimal. Comments/Questions apprechiated.

nice tank... are you running a sump?? what kind of skimmer you running??

This is about as good as I can do for front shot of the tank, I dont have a really decent camera.

No, I dont run a sump - I did for a week or two but ditched it due to the constant PITA of having to watch the water level and worry about overflowing/underfilling. It's a totally closed system with no filtration other than biological.

that is an excellent setup! I'm glad to hear you went completely biological on the filtration front. I have a HOB filter I was thinking about using, but the more I read, the more I think water movement and a protein skimmer should be more than adequate for the bioload I'm planning.
