stacinbeau
I was just wondering if anyone had ever tried mangrove in your fuge. I am thinking about giving it a shot and see what happens. Link to comment
ninhsavestheday
the only problem with mangroves is you need alot of space vertically cause they shoot up pretty tall. Link to comment
Chyendra
are they as good as or better for nutriant export as macro algea? Link to comment
tinyreef
not a very good nutrient uptaker when compared to macro. they also need mg supplementation. they look nice and they provide a good biotope for certain livestock but if you want nutrient export, go with some kind of macro or microalgae. Pigup
i'd say it's all about the ratio of mangrove sticks to gallons of water, when you're speaking of nutrient export. for example, i have two red mangroves in about 4 gals of water, i find that it's difficult for any calcareous algea to grow. and i think the regular water changes will take care of the mg and the Fe that the mangroves will need. mangroves will grow rather quickly once they shoot leaves, so headroom is a requirement.
