Darksoul
I was all for RODI, until I got my TDS meter today. My tap water has a 27ppm TDS reading, and I'm just not sure if a RODI filter is necessary to filter my tap water. Do you think a regular RO filter would be able to give me a 0ppm TDS from that tap water? Link to comment
AZDesertRat
RO by itself will never give you tru 0 TDS water, it is a 90-98% device in the best of conditions and even then is not good at removing certain things like nitrates or all forms of ammonia, silicates, phosphates and others. You should really look at as RO is pretreatment for DI which is the ultimate filter. Link to comment
superemone
My tap is 148 ppm. And after RO, it reads 0. RO alone will probably give you 0 as well. But I have RO/DI just for that extra pure water. Link to comment
Captain Billy
Ive installed dozens of RO/DI machines and I can't say that I have ever had one read 0tds after just the membrane. DI is a must for any reef tank. Link to comment
AZDesertRat
RO will never be 0 TDS with a calibrated TDS meter, its not possible. They are a 90-98% efficient device under perfect conditions at best. RO by itself will never remove many things thats why DI is necessary too. Link to comment
