PAR? Important Right? But......

...That I mentioned a few times before? Problem is though, there is no simple way to quantify it, and it takes expensive equipment to do even that. While it's an accurate measurement, it's not a very useful one right now.

 

Not to mention, PUR would be species specific, which makes it still as useless as PAR.

Not really. PUR is defined based on the application. A suitable response curve could be made that sufficiently covers the vast majority of corals and other photosynthetic tank inhabitants.

This is true, but it is much more complicated and still relatively unknown for many species. Essentially, what you're suggesting, is PAR for coral.

The curve isn't difficult to produce. The tools required to accurately measure it will be though, so we are back to PAR, even though it's over generalized.
