i'm wondering how many people use seachem reef carbonate, and how many of you have had red cyano outbreaks?  i think there's a connection, from my own experience.  any comments welcomed =)

Red cyanobacteria is caused by too many nutrients in the water. I myself have been battling it for a while now, I have a feeling it's not going away until I get rid of one of my fish. You might want to take a look at your bioload.

I do not add anything but food morsals, phytoplankton, zooplankton(daphnia), and mysis shrimp and water/DI changesand DI/top-off. I have not had an outbreak of cyano as of yet but every now and then when I scrape my glass, the build up on the edge of my scraper is a bit red sometimes (if that is cyano) I just scrape away and its gone. No problems.

I rarely add additives to my tank, and have one small fish in a 12 gallon. I occasionally have a SMALL patch of cyano (about an inch in diameter). It seems to be happy in the back of my aquarium, so I have no complaints!
