AquaJamieB
I have to definitely say yes, keep it on. Last week I purchased my first fish, an false percula clown about an inch an a half long. It did great for a week until it disappeared on me. I tore the tank apart looking for the little guy until I bumped the powerhead off its cradle, and low and behold, the little guy got sucked up the powerheads intake. I put the sponge back on, I suggest you do the same, if you dont want missing fish. My tank is a 20 long, with plenty of swimming room. Any fish in your 5.5 will definitly have problems with the powerhead without the sponge. Link to comment
cookiemn
Ditto, I learned my lessons with fish, snails, and urchins. They aren't the brightest animals so you have to plan for the worst. Link to comment
