reefer4ever
So i have the API calcium test and its very weird lately. here are my perameters: PH=8.2 KH=11 AM=0.5(clam recently died)(also i accidently stirred part of the sand bed) NI=0 NA=0 CA=8 FU**ING HUNDRED?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MG=no mg test SL=1.0245 my clam(now dead) used up a bunch of calcium before it died and i havent dosed anything since. about a week ago(when my clam died) the calcium was at 390. that is why i have ammonia. i did a water change yesterday but i doubt that coud raise my CA to 800. i tested my water today and thats when i found out my CA was insane. i ended up putting 10 drops of bottle #1 and 40 drops of bottle #2 before the water turned blue. i retested and got the same results. tell me this is some kind of API fu** up. any input is great and very appriciated Link to comment
Dasani
Did you shake it up well before you used it? How old is it? Link to comment
reefer4ever
i shook it up for like a couple minutes as i looked at my gorgeous S'Mores. the tests are 10 days shy of three months old Link to comment
AZDesertRat
Thats why I use Salifert for anything other than a presence/absence type test. API to me is like litmus paper, ballpark accuracy at best. Link to comment
Dasani
I have used the API calcium and it has worked fine for me. But I would invest in salifert for calc, alk, and mag. I am going to get those soon. Link to comment
lakshwadeep
Maybe one of the reagents is messed up such as being left open too long or just expired. Link to comment
