I am setting up a 12 gal bowl front and i have an old incandesent style light fixture that fits it perfect. I am planning on having LPS shrooms and a squammie clam. Here is the bulb i am thinking of using in this fixture. The fixture can house two bulbs, anyone have any experience or suggestions with this bulb type.

Thanxs Apo.

I used these before I got my halide, they compare most to the "curlies" you read a lot about in these forums. If you are considering a clam, you should wait for the tank to mature and establish itself (at least a few months) and I'd strongly suggest getting a halide, even if sqammies aren't the most light-needing species, they'll do a LOT better under the right lighting. If you want to just keep shrooms, zoos and softies/leathers you'd be fine with these screw in bulbs though. The color isn't too bad either (no comparision to 10000K or 14000K but not bad, especially when you supplement with actinic...)

Two of those 10W bulbs aren't going to be enough light for LPS' or clams. I have a 13 watt PC on my 5.5 gallon(upgrading to a 70w MH) and I feel it's too little for the softies I have.

There is also a 20 watt version. I have 2 on my 10gal. I intend to either add 2 more of them before I put coral in there but I wouldn't dream of putting clams in there with this much light. If you want to keep clams you might as well go ahead and get the mh lights. Here's a pic of my 10 with 2 of the 20 watters and a link to buy them.
