frogguy1
"Base Rock" is it needed? I've started a 18 gallon high aquarium. Its an eclipse tank with the filtration built into the top and I also have a 550 power had running for more flow. Anyways my question is; can I place live rock directly on the surface of the sand with out base rock? Thanks. raynas@sbcglobal.net Link to comment
cookiemn
Yes you can. People usually use base rock on the bottom to hold up the LR that you will eventually buy. The base rock eventually becomes LR over time. Base rock is usually used for auqascaping your tank. Link to comment
Perpetual98
I've got some base rock in my tank for a couple of reasons. First of all, I didn't want to spend lots of money on my second SW tank, and secondly, I was curious how long it would take for it to turn to LR. Link to comment
