Ok so I know this is way off subject for this part of the forum but I was wondering if I could use the water to make up some food for all the humming birds that I have around the house?

What do you mean by "the water"? Saltwater or freshwater? If it's freshwater, then I don't think it matters what you use.

Yes just add sugar and red food coloring. You can also drink it, add a little salt for taste.

Why should red food coloring be used?

you've never bought the food before have you? It's not needed just adds to the look.
