Alk always low/ Calcium 500

I have a 30 gallon, I read in one of these posts that someone adds 2 1/2 capfuls of Carbonate to their tank to keep dkh at about 10. Any idea on how much I should add to my tank, my dkh always reads 6 -7

Before you dose I would want to know how the pH is running as well as mag.

I have never tested for mg, will test my ph.

pH is 8.2 after dosing two capfuls.

IME if your magnesium level is in check or even on the higher end, you tend to have a more stable dkh level.
