refractometer question

For more then one year i was using a plastic red sea hydrometer. I was aiming towards 1026 and always measure at 25 C (77F). Today I purchased a refractometer. I calibrated at 20 C (68F) ambient room temperature using distilled water. Then I measured the tank water and it was 1029. I measured also the fresh saltwater that I store for wc and it showed 1030. Due to evaporation in such a small tank salinity shifts from 1026 to 1026. But now I don t know for sure if i was using all the time 1030 or 1026....I am really puzzled.

Can you help in some way?

All the best!

You've used what you've used. Doesn't really matter now. Just try to slowly bring down your salinity and throw away your hydrometer.

I was thinking the same thing. But keeping salinity 1030 might have influenced somehow the creatures in the tank, not that i have many but usually people keep their water at 1026.

I ll bring it down to 1026 slowly. All the best!
