Empty
Anyone see anything wrong with this? http://lightingcloseout.com/product_detail...90&CategoryID=1 ~Empty Link to comment
Dominik
Make sure it has mogul socket. I have seen similar fixtures with medium base 175W lamp. Link to comment
Empty
I think it's just a naked ballast- no sockets included. ~Empty Link to comment
Dominik
Now I'm confused, when I clicked on the link I got the picture and description of a flood light, isn't it what you were referring to ? Link to comment
Empty
LOL! No, I am confused. Too much comparison shopping Yes, I will be sure to get HQI or Mogul sockets when I eventually buy one. Sorry for the confusion. ~Empty Link to comment
Von digity
Since your comparison shopping (trying to save a buck or 2 I presume) your probly better off not buying that fixture. First off the bulb is probly not going to be the right spectrum (likely 4000k or below), so your basically paying 90 bucks for a ballast. Jahkaya had a thread showing how cheap you can diy a metal halide if you shop on ebay. Here it is. If your gonna pay 90 bucks for a ballast, I'd at least shell out a little bit more and buy an Icecap. Just my 3 cents. Link to comment
Empty
Cool, thanks for the link Vn! After looking around, I think that is what I may do... It's still in the planning stages- hell my tank only has one coral in it at the moment (I'm new to reefs, and have the bug bad) I figure with a good MH pendant and a 10g sump (still designing it I can bump my 5g up into a 20 or 30 pretty easily. ~Empty Link to comment
