Some Kind Of Green Worm

MB3

Recommended Posts

Last month I went downstairs in the middle of the night and saw this worm swimming around my tank. It was about 8 inches long very spaghetti like and looked like it had little legs on each segment. It was also bright green. It seemed to be attracted to my 'moonlight' led.

I have not yet mastered the art of taking clear pictures of the tank so I included some with the flash and some without.

The tank has been up for a few months now, I only saw this that one night, never again.

That thing is pretty long. A clearer picture would help ( not that that is easy at night ). Does it only come out at night? can you find it during the day?

Yeah I was surpised how long it was too. I have only seen it that one time, and it was very late at night.

I took about 50 pictures of it, but sadly, the ones I posted are the clearest ones.

What really surprised me was the length, and the fact it could hide so well in my tank for 2 months without me seeing it.

I often come down at night to see that is out and about and that thing shocked me. I can only hope it is still in there and still alright.

Well, after some further searching I came up with this link:

According to the site bristleworms do come in green and some species can grow to up to 6 meters. So it may be a less recognized form but still technically a bristleworm.

Here is another link with more or less the same info and a couple pics of some long bristleworms. Also confirms the fact that bristleworms will swim.
