LOU Posted January 16, 2004 Share Posted January 16, 2004 Hi all, I have a couple questions regarding my candycane and zooanthids. 1. I know that candycanes put out their tentacles at night to feed, i've seen this, and retract them at day. The question is, do they do pure photosynthesis during daytime only? Or will they uptake food, some how? 2. I have a colony of about 25 green button zoanthid. when i first bought them most of them had the green color in the middle circle with brown tentacles, but now its been over a month and the green color has shifted toward the tentacle, but there are a few that retained the green in the middle as well, they're green all over. Are these green pigments the zooanthellae? Some poplyps are about half green, distributed in an asymmetrical fashion, some younger smaller polyps are all brown... I was hoping someone can shed some light ( say about 90watts:D ) on my questions, thanks!! Link to comment
