BRS Carbon Issue

So I got some Carbon from bulk reef a few weeks abck..

It seems as soon as I started to use it that all my filter pads were turning pure black by the next day and I had to wash them everyday. It also seem to put a layer of black over all my rocks and it stained my return pump line black as well. i washed it till it ran clear before putting in the tank...Has anyone else ever had this issue before?

How are you running it in the system--passive floating bag, reactor?

The carbon shouldn't tumble at all.

how is it situated in the tank? media bag/rack/reactor? Is it moving ? If so this could cause it to break apart.

keep it still in the reactor, bag, whatever...

its in a media bag in my sump and the overflow line feeds into it

Is it being tossed around?

If so lower the flow.

I have ran all the carbon I have had in my tank like this before and I have never had this issue with ANY other carbon except this stuff.

Fwiw, I've been using thr BRS ROX 0.8 for a couple of years now with no issues at all. The stuff is so clean that you really don't even need to rinse it before putting it in your tank.

you got a bad batch. i would try to get a refund. definitly stop using it.

yea i stopped using it..as all my rocks are stained black, seems after I started using it my acros that where doing good all are about half dead, even got a layer of black on my cheato.
