I currently have a 10 gallon with a 70 watt blv ushio 20k bulb. What I am going to do is replace it with a ushio 10k bulb. I am expected to lose the intense color of my acro's, but am I going to lose it so much that they will look bad. Will it hurt any of my corals going to a lower k bulb. I know I will recieve better growth from a lower k bulb but is it going to hurt any corals from the change. Should I acclimate the new bulb (run shorter periods of light and gradually step up the lighting). I also plan on running 2X36 watt pc actinic's to supplement the blue from the 20k.

Thanks

I just did the same with my 175. As for acclimation I did 5 hours the first day, 6 the next, 7 the following and so on until it was on for 12 hours. With 2x36 for actinic and a new 10k bulb intensity I think your corals will actually color up more. If anything I might go for 1x50/50 and 1xactinic to give you more intensity. I think going from 1x70 20k to 1x70 10k + 2x36 Actinic will give you awesome color over a 10
