Turbo
I have had my 10 gallon nano-reef going for about a month. I was waiting for my live rock and got it a few days ago. My question is; about a week ago I had what I believe to be a diatom bloom. From what I here it is quite common in new tanks. What I want to do is keep the light off while my tank finishes cycling but will that be unbeneficial to my live rock? I wanna keep this algae or whatever it is from spreading because it looks like crap but not at the cost of my live rock. What do you guys think? Link to comment
birdman204
cut your photoperiod to 3 - 5 hours a day, with no life, the rock wont need a full blast of light to keep it doing fine. Yes let it cycle a little longer. If you can be patient enough till you start seeing coralline algae growing, you're in like Flynn. Link to comment
Physh1
Yup...I agree...a shortened photoperiod for rock curing helps keep it under control. Cameron Link to comment
