MrKrispy Posted January 10, 2004 Share Posted January 10, 2004 I doubt there will be enough nitrification in live sand to handle the die off of uncured live rock. Cured live rock (which will probably still have die off...) might be okay. You probably shouldn't go throwing critters in right away but you might only need to wait a week or two. Link to comment

You should put all the rock and sand in at once and wait, test, and wait some more...You should buy test kits when you buy the rock: at least Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, and pH for now. You will want Ca and Alk. later... If you already have the live sand, add that now and fill the tank about half full (with RO/salt mix) in anticipation of the rock. Get some water movement going if you do this (powerheads). Link to comment
